Living Building Challenge
The Living Building Challenge is a green building certification program and design framework that visualizes the ideal for the built environment. It allows for the creation of buildings that are regenerative spaces which connect occupants to light, air, food, nature and community. These buildings are self-sufficient and remain within the resource limits of their site, producing more energy than they use and collecting and treating all water on site. Living buildings give more than they take, allowing them to create a positive impact on the human and natural systems that interact with them.
The Living Building Challenge is organized into 7 performance areas which address specific issues through detailed requirements to create healthy, efficiency, ecologically restorative spaces for communities.
